My insurance, after speaking with my doctor and reviewing the Heyborne study, has generously agreed to continue to cover my inpatient care. Everyone told me not to worry ....but it was too hard. But now I'm really happy - such a relief :)
The Heyborne study is like a trump card for monoamniotic/monochorionic(momo) moms. It's goal was to find the optimal care for momo patients. It compared inpatient care to outpatient care. In a nutshell, there were zero fetal deaths in the inpatient care side and 40% fetal deaths on the outpatient side. Also, the inpatient group tended to carry their babies closer to term resulting in shorter nicu stays and better overall health for the babies.
As my tummy gets bigger and bigger, I can't help but imagine what it was like back in the days when you found out you were having twins when the second baby was born. !!! People still managed to have twins, but my twins wouldn't have been ok. Even having the technology to be aware of BabyB's heart defect before birth has been a blessing.

Oh good! I've been thinking of you all day yesterday and today wondering how things were going. I'm SO relieved to hear that they are going to keep you in. Not as relieved as you are, I'm sure. :)
Only a few more weeks till you can meet your girls! And isn't technology amazing? I know Juice and I wouldn't have any kids if it wasn't for technology. We are truly blessed...both of us. :)
My insurance company and my doctor were fighting a lot. It was very stressful and a huge disaster. The doc threatened to keep me in the hospital from 26 weeks until delivery. Luckily that didn't happen. I was without a computer and my only entertainment was Judge Judy. Well, and books too. I managed to be able to go home for most of the time, getting non-stress tests at the hospital every other day. That's all my insurance would pay for. I kept praying that nothing would happen on an "off" day! Talk about stress! But I was also supposed to be on bed rest and I was driving myself to the hospital and walking long distances from the parking lot to the office. I was so glad when the babies were born. It really was a miracle that they survived all the potential mishaps!
I'm glad I only had to stress about it for 2 days. I can't imagine what it must've been like for you.
It takes me an hour to get to the hospital from my house. The insurance agreeing to cover inpatient without more fighting is such a relief!
I'm so glad that insurance problem is all worked out. I can't believe they'd stress out a pregnant mom in your condition--how dare they! So glad it's resolved.
