I Change the Words...

The first time I sang "You are my Sunshine" to Seraph:
"You are my sunshine,
my only sunshine,
you make me happy,
when skies are gray.
you'll never know dear,
how much I love you...."
[I couldn't bring myself to say the words...so I sang:]
"each and every day!"

It didn't start with Seraph, though....the first night I was a mother, I took took a very tiny Beautiful Rabbit in my arms and rocked her to sleep.  While I rocked her, I sang:
"Rock-a-bye baby in the tree top,
when the wind blows the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks,
the cradle will fall,
and mommy will catch you,
cradle and all."
My kids still think those are the real words....

You know, I have been singing "and mommy will catch you" with all of my kids too. =) I never sing the last line of you are my sunshine the real words either! We must have the same soft spot...
