Nut Shells

I had fun with Seraph's physical therapy today.  We mostly played with a hat.  Props are good!  She's getting more brave with her balance every day :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Thank the heavens that Sexy Haqon is back from his super long business trip that went really well but it was crazy hard to deal with the kids all week without him and thank heavens for family who dropped by and called to keep me sane. (I always feel weird telling people that he's gonna be gone all week cuz it makes me feel more vulnerable when more people know he's not here....but then if I don't tell then I don't get the extra support which I really need. I haven't figured this one out yet)
  • kindergarten orientation.
  • kindergarten forms
  • track sign-up for next year
  • doctor appointments for said forms
  • reschedule seraph's dental appointment
  • Physical Therapy (play with Seraph who has extra big smiles today and call it a chore ;)
  • skip Seraph's food therapy three days in a row
  • figure out if I have a cold or allergies -- either way I can't breath!
  • put up new calendar (yes, I do this 2 months at a time...it's just easier to organize my desk that way)
  • fax those documents to that lady
  • call that office that'll keep me on hold for an hour
  • buy new rechargeable batteries for my camera (somehow they always end up in the Wii remotes)
  • sign tax papers
  • fill out more papers
  • fix my computer so it won't restart itself at in the middle of webinars I've waited all day to watch.
  • cross my fingers that it's really fixed.
  • play my turn at scrabble
  • stop putting off writing on my blog just cuz I don't have a picture to post with it
  • sleep
  • get Delightful Finch's hair cut!!
  • play text twist
  • learn that my phone's screen turns a funky kind of plaid if I don't recharge it on time
  • learn that my phone's plaid screen will go away if I charge the battery for 10 minutes AND then push the camera button.
  • thank the heavens for google.
  • see what Ms Baby Plan is up to today

Seraph Update

Look at that happy girl!  Notice the eye-teeth? She's still working on some of them (Angel is getting them in, too.) It's scary because Seraph will wake up screaming in pain.  Last night it took me an hour to calm her down - holding, rocking, singing, and patting her tummy.  (That's after I gave her Tylenol).  Part of me worries that her pain is from something else - something more serious.  But, it comes and goes and acts a lot like teething.  And, Angel's going through it, too.

Besides, look how happy she is!

Notice that her nasal canula is clipped to her shirt instead of taped to her cheeks. That's because she refuses to let it get anywhere near her face.  We've switched to 4 L oxygen on blowby.  This time, we try to keep it clipped to her so she's always sitting in a pocket of oxygen.  The cardiologist told us that this was acceptable for her heart condition.  (She doesn't need the positive pressure from the cannula, just the oxygen itself.)

Physical Therapy today!
Seraph loves standing; loves shuffling around to get toys that are just out of reach.  Today we practiced putting her down between my legs so she'd have to step over my leg to get anywhere.  She is good about picking up her right foot, but likes to just drag her left foot.  (She balances best on her left foot, so she's more scared of falling when she's off it.)

Seraph makes sounds more often now!  "Aaaaaaaah" is still the running favorite.  She talks to her toys now, instead of just reacting when people talk to her.

She also LOVES to dance.  She sways back and forth to the music - but not every song.  By far, her favorite song is ABCs/Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  She could listen to that all day long!!  (no, really)

When Seraph's therapists come over, the kids instinctively know to play quietly scream, cry & fight.

Luckily a bucket of water is all it takes to distract them for an hour!

Physical Therapy

Seraph was a riot today.  She let us know that she is not a stuffed animal.  She has her own ideas about where she wants to move her body.  Each time the therapist tried to encourage her into a position, she'd strongly push the other way.  She babbled the whole time, too.

When I blow her kisses, she sucks on her tongue to make a kissing sound.  She likes to snuggle with her papa.  Her skin used to be really dry.  Thanks to coconut oil, it's getting smoother all the time.  She's sitting up better.

We're losing Seraph's home nurse.  For weeks, the nurse has been hinting that she won't be able to keep coming because Seraph doesn't have enough problems.  It's finally happened.  We can still call her if we have problems.  (Like a missing NJ tube!) ...but she's stopping her weekly visits.

The physical therapist will keep seeing her once a week.
